Ticket to Ride (Refresh Edition) is the 2025 update to the game that taught a generation how to play board games. Over 20 million copies later, Days of Wonder has gone back to the original North American map and given it new artwork, better components and a handful of quiet refinements - without touching what made it work in the first place.
The rules still take three minutes to explain. Collect colored train cards, spend matching sets to claim railway routes between American cities, and score points for every route you build. Longer routes pay more. Destination tickets in your hand pay big if you connect the two cities they name - and cost you if you don't. Meanwhile the route you were counting on is one card away from being taken by the player to your left.
That tension is the whole game, and it's why Ticket to Ride won the "Spiel des Jahres" in 2004 and never left the table.
