What are speculaas biscuits?
Speculaas are spiced tea biscuits originating from the Netherlands and Belgium, also popular in Croatia. Traditionally, they are pressed into shapes depicting windmills, ships and animals.
Game overview and goal
Players are in the role of pastry chefs who prepare speculaas biscuits and try to collect as many points as possible by stacking recipe cards and spice cards next to each other.
Speculaas is played in 2 rounds so all players play their turn at the same time. After the end of the 2nd round, points are scored and the player who collects the most points is the winner.
Game flow
Speculaas is played in 2 rounds. During one round, all players simultaneously select cards and place them in front of them in their playing space. First they choose a recipe, then spices, then a recipe, then spices again and so on until they run out of cards.
Game over
After the end of the 2nd round, your cookies are baked and the game ends, followed by scoring. The winner is the player who won the most points. In case of a tie, the winner is the player with fewer honey tokens, and if still a tie, the player with fewer 2 spice cards wins. If it is still tied, the players share the victory.
