Help the forest stock its pantry before winter
Autumn is ending in Savernake Forest, and every animal in the wood is scrambling to fill its burrow before the cold sets in. Your job is to lay out the paths, match each creature to the food it loves, and send everyone into winter with a full belly.
Savernake Forest is a light, cozy card-drafting and tile-laying game for 2-4 players. On your turn you take one card from a shared display and add it to your own patch of forest - either a new animal or a path of food for one already there. The catch is in the constraints: no two animals share a path, every card has to sit adjacent to another, and your whole forest has to fit inside a 4x4 grid. Sixteen cards later, the forest is full and you count up how well fed everyone is.
Twenty-three kinds of woodland animals - foxes, hedgehogs, beavers, owls, woodpeckers, wild cats and more - each want different foods, and each has its own storage limit. Helper animals shake things up: the rooster lets you draft first next turn, the armadillo digs you extra storage. Simple to teach, but there's real planning in fitting the right animal to the right path before someone else drafts the card you needed.
